Course Description
This program is designed to equip students with specialized knowledge and practical skills in aerial and satellite image analysis, land mapping, and spatial data extraction for surveying and geospatial applications.
This program trains students to work in modern photogrammetric establishments, focusing on automated image processing, geospatial data analysis, and mapping technologies. Graduates will be skilled in extracting land surveying and mapping data from satellite imagery and applying photogrammetric techniques for spatial analysis.
The course emphasizes:
- Efficient laboratory procedures
- Cost-effective use of advanced photogrammetric and remote sensing tools
- Application of GIS and Computer-Assisted Mapping (CAM)
Course Objectives
By the end of this program, trainees will be able to:
- Operate photogrammetric equipment efficiently and safely.
- Understand and apply remote sensing techniques in surveying and mapping.
- Utilize Computer-Assisted Mapping (CAM) for spatial data processing.
- Communicate professional and supervisory matters effectively.
- Demonstrate safe working habits in photogrammetric laboratories.
- Supervise photogrammetric work conducted by instrument operators.
- Adapt to emerging technologies in the surveying and mapping industry.
Course Duration
- Total Duration: 2½ years
- Mode of Study: Full-time, Part-time, or Blended Learning
- Course Structure: 8 terms/semesters, including an Internal Attachment for practical training
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for admission, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
- Minimum Entry Requirements:
- KCSE Mean Grade: C- (Minus) or equivalent
- Subject Requirements:
- Mathematics: D+ (Plus) or higher
- Geography & Physics: D+ (Plus) or higher
- Alternative Entry Qualifications:
- A pass in a Photogrammetry or Land Surveying Craft Certificate Examination.
